Latest Release of StorCycle Software Adds New Functionality for Broader Integrations

What better way to kick off 2021 than to announce the news that we’ve added more features to Spectra StorCycle, our award-winning storage lifecycle management solution. The new functionality makes it easier than ever for customers to migrate their data off of expensive primary storage and manage it effortlessly throughout its lifecycle so that it remains available and protected to provide long-term value to organizations.

While we added many new features to StorCycle 3.3, one of the most exciting is an open RESTful API that enables users to build custom integrations to StorCycle. These commands might be used for actions such as bulk creation of storage locations, scripting of migrations that first require actions of other systems, and allowing user restores through a separate web portal.

StorCycle 3.3 also adds another cloud vendor to its growing list of cloud options so that StorCycle users can transfer data to their choice of cloud storage and storage classes within those clouds. The latest release supports Microsoft® Azure® (standard hot/cold and archive tiers) along with Amazon S3 standard and archive tiers. The new release also enables the tiering of data from standard Amazon cloud storage to Amazon Glacier and Deep Archive after a migration.

To help improve efficiencies, StorCycle 3.3 now displays job migration and restore performance data – real-time — when active. The display shows transfer rates, data moved so far, and job size. IT professionals appreciate the insight, especially when they are running more than one job at a time and organizational tasks rely on finished jobs.

Many other features are included with StorCycle’s new software release. Read more on the latest release here.

What is StorCycle?

StorCycle is a storage lifecycle management software that helps customers identify data that can be migrated off of expensive primary storage based on attributes like file age, then migrates that data to more suitable and less expensive storage platforms, which can include any combination of cloud storage, object storage disk, network-attached storage (NAS) and object storage tape. Once data is migrated, it remains completely protected and accessible throughout its lifecycle.

StorCycle helps organizations reduce the overall costs of storing data by up to 70%. It can be implemented as standalone software using public cloud storage or existing network-attached storage, or combined with Spectra storage hardware to create a complete storage solution.
