Patented technology maintains tape media operating at peak performance
Overview
You now have access to the most reliable tape media on the market with Spectra Certified Tape Media. Rest assured; extra care is taken during every step of the manufacturing process to ensure you have the most reliable and automated tape storage possible. Our technology guarantees your certified tape media is delivered ready for peak performance and continuously monitored for quality to protect your data. Every cartridge is cleaned, tested, and verified to pass the highest quality standard before use. You also get a lifetime warranty because we are confident in the media’s quality.
The ROI benefits of using certified tape media go far beyond safeguarding your data. Along with enhanced protection, you also enjoy prolonged tape drive life, reduced need for manual handling, and the convenience of pre-calibrated LTO9 media. Our TeraPacks enable bulk loading into Spectra tape libraries, and we provide you with pre-applied bar codes.
Media Lifecycle Management
Certified Media combined with Media Lifecycle Management (MLM) reduces the most common media-related failures and can only be found with Spectra tape libraries.
Benefits
CarbideClean: Media debris elimination
Spectra Logic proprietary CarbideClean technology ensures media is debris-free. This helps extend the life of your tape drives and maximizes the performance and capacity of your tapes.
Media Lifecycle Management: Continuous proactive tape management
Spectra Logic’s Media Lifecycle Management (MLM) proactively tracks, manages, and provides reports on all aspects of tape usage and health status, reducing tape-related errors. MLM helps you manage your tapes efficiently from start to end with continuous assessments on more than 40 different metrics throughout the life of each tape.
Data Integrity Verification: Validates your data was successfully written to tape
Spectra’s Data Integrity Verifications (DIV) tools provide features that check the tape before use and checks to ensure that data was properly written to the tape. The DIV tools are designed to ensure your data is safe and secure.
Bar Code Tagging: Ease your tracking
Media arrives with pre-applied custom or standard barcodes, making continuous tracking very efficient.
TeraPacks: Ease your bulk-loading & offsite storage
Customers can conveniently order pre-packaged media with TeraPacks for easy loading into the Spectra tape library. The TeraPacks are removable from the library and are available with optional dust covers for added protection during offsite storage.
LTO-9 Pre-calibration: Pre-optimized for immediately availability
LTO-9 media must be initialized before use, which can take up to 30 minutes per cartridge. Spectra offers pre-initialized media which optimizes data placement and is immediately ready for use.
Tape media
LTO-9 tape drive technology is the latest and greatest in tape storage, offering unparalleled capacity, performance, and reliability for your business-critical data. With up to 18TB of native capacity per cartridge, LTO-9 can store more data than ever before, making it an ideal solution for archiving and disaster recovery.
Spectra libraries will support LTO-8 Tape (linear tape open) technology, the eighth generation of tape technology that delivers on the promise made by the LTO Consortium to develop LTO tape technology through at least 10 generations. With much higher LTO-8 capacity, the entire line of Spectra tape libraries will allow customers to store more data and better utilize their existing tape library footprint.
LTO-7 Type M media is an industry first offering, which provides a 50 percent increase in capacity from 6TB to 9TB by converting LTO-7 media. Customers who normally wait for the latest generation of LTO tape to be cost-effective before upgrading can now immediately realize cost savings by simply adding LTO-8 drives and Spectra Certified LTO-7 Type M media to a Spectra library. Once a new uniquely labeled LTO-7 tape cartridge has been initialized in an LTO-8 tape drive, the new LTO-7 Type M media will have a capacity of 9TB, with a price point comparable to LTO-7 media.
With LTO-7’s greater storage capacity, you can maintain or reduce your existing footprint with Spectra’s industry-leading storage density. Spectra tape libraries use innovative “cabinets” instead of slots, and TeraPack containers in place of individual cartridges, resulting in a storage density that is unmatched by any other library available. This incredible density lets you maximize the amount of data that can be stored per square foot of expensive data center real estate. Once a new uniquely labeled LTO-7 tape cartridge has been initialized in an LTO-8 tape drive, the new LTO-7 Type M media will have a capacity of 9TB, with a price point comparable to LTO-7 media.
The TS1170 tape drive is a leading-edge storage solution that delivers unmatched capacity, performance, and reliability for your data protection and archiving needs. With its ultra-high capacity of up to 50TB per cartridge (150TB compressed), the TS1170 can store massive amounts of data in a compact and cost-effective form factor. Plus, its advanced technology provides data transfer rates of up to 400MB/s (900 MB/s compressed), making it one of the fastest tape drives on the market.
With double the capacity of the TS1150, the new TS1160 breaks new barriers, offering users the largest capacity per tape and the fastest data rate of any tape technology available on the market. This translates into fewer tapes needed to store the same amount of data, less labor and time to manage the tape inventory, and reduced library, application and offsite slot costs. Superior performance provides customers with the ability to get the same amount of work done with fewer drives and reduced support costs.
TS1155 Technology offers one of the most reliable tape technologies ever developed. Designed to provide enterprise-class reliability with 24 x 7 usage. In addition to robust reliability and data integrity, the TS1155 Technology offers users one of the largest capacities per tape and one of the fastest data rates of any tape technology. This translates into fewer tapes needed to store the same amount of data, less labor and time to manage the tape inventory, and reduced library, application and offsite slot costs. Superior performance allows customers to get the same amount of work done with fewer drives and reduced support costs.
