The T950v provides all the same enterprise grade features, reliability and capacity but with a new entry level price point. The full 8-frame T950v can store up to 180PB of data or content (450PB compressed) and when fully populated with 120 tape drives, offers an impressive transfer rate of up to 172TB/hr (432TB/hr compressed) using LTO-9 tape technology. The Spectra T950v provides maximum flexibility by allowing you to populate your library with LTO tape technology or IBM® TS11XX Enterprise Tape Technology, enabling you to choose the technology that is perfect for your business.

Commercial and Open-Source Applications

Among the many major commercial backup application players are Veeam, Commvault, Veritas, Dell/EMC Networker, and IBM Spectrum Protect. There are many more, but these are the names often found in the top five for commercial “application-based” backup.

There are also a handful of open source application-based backup and recovery products supported by Spectra libraries, such as Amanda Community Edition (by Zmanda), Bacula and Bareos (a derivative of Bacula). These solutions tend to differentiate themselves by providing non-proprietary formats and are available as free “community edition” software. Zmanda and Bacula also offer commercial versions of their software typically referred to as “Enterprise Edition” which are likewise supported by Spectra.

Built to meet your needs and grow as your needs evolve, the T950v allows you to start with a single frame and expand your library to eight frames seamlessly. Start with as few as 90 enterprise slots or 100 LTO slots, and as your needs expand, add more capacity in increments of 9 enterprise tape slots or 10 LTO tape slots, up to 7,614 enterprise slots or 10,020 LTO slots.
