Today’s media and entertainment professionals are tasked with creating exponentially more content in less time. From 15-second YouTube and TikTok clips to long-form documentaries for subscription streaming platforms, audiences expect continuous, high-quality content. And they expect it fast.
This ever-increasing demand for speed and efficiency is a major challenge for creatives who need to quickly find, preview, and restore the right content from large archives.
Media Insight, a new capability within Rio Media Suite, helps alleviate these pressures. With features like AI-enriched metadata, high-quality proxies, and Partial File Restore, Media Insight enables production teams to visually assess stored media and identify the exact clips they need to craft engaging narratives.
Spectra officially launched Media Insight at IBC2026, Europe’s largest media and entertainment trade show, in Amsterdam. Throughout the event, we gave more than 90 demos to experienced video editors, archivists, post-production professionals, and technical leaders from across the industry.
Here, we share some of their initial reactions on how Media Insight helps teams better access the content they already have stored, so they can keep pace with modern media workflows.
Archive Searchability
Many Spectra customers maintain archives containing petabytes of creative material accumulated over decades. Such archives are a gold mine of untapped content that production studios can uncover to tell new stories — and gain a competitive edge.
But as archives grow and evolve, so do naming conventions, metadata standards, and file structures. Institutional knowledge is lost as archivists change organizations. Over time, finding the right content can become increasingly difficult.
Media Insight provides a simple way to search these vast archives and discover content teams may not even realize they have using intelligent search.
“It seems like my team could get a better overview of the kind of data we already have stored,” expressed one CTO at IBC2026. “The metadata enhancements would be valuable for my organization.”
Greater Archive Visibility Without Added Complexity
Media Asset Management (MAM) and Production Asset Management (PAM) systems are commonplace at large studios. But for small- and mid-sized organizations, these platforms can come with significant costs, complexity, and unnecessary features.
At IBC2026, Media Insight resonated with advertising agencies, houses of worship, corporate media teams, niche broadcasters, government agencies, higher education institutions, and other organizations with rich media archives that need greater visibility into their content, but not necessarily the expense and operational overhead of a full-scale media management platform.
As one IBC2026 attendee put it after a Media Insight demo: “We don’t currently have a MAM or a PAM. But with Media Insight, we’d have enough visibility into our archive that we wouldn’t need one. For us, this could be very economical.”
Simple Interface
Media Insight is designed for creatives to have streamlined access to stored content. That’s why it was paramount for Spectra to create a simple, user-friendly interface that could quickly recall digital media.
During IBC2026 demos, video editors and engineers were impressed with the platform’s efficiency and intuitive design. Instead of navigating complex storage systems or relying on institutional knowledge to locate archived files, users can access their content through a straightforward interface.
For creative teams, this simplicity can make archived content feel less like something stored away and more like an extension of their existing workflow.
