Nathan Thompson
Chief Executive Officer
Nathan Thompson is chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Spectra Logic, an industry leader in delivering innovative data storage and data management solutions that help organizations manage, protect and preserve their digital assets forever.
Nathan founded Spectra Logic in October 1979 at the age of 19, while attending the University of Colorado College of Engineering in Boulder, CO. Originally called Western Automation, the company later acquired the assets of an interface firm known as Spectra Logic and, in 1993, the combined company was renamed Spectra Logic Corporation.
For over 40 years, Spectra Logic, a privately held corporation, has served the needs of data-intensive industries, global corporations and government agencies by providing them with a continuous stream of advanced data storage and archive solutions based on ever-evolving deep storage requirements.
In 1996, Nathan’s business achievements were recognized when Ernst & Young and USA Today named him Entrepreneur of the Year. In 2003, he received the Distinguished Engineering Alumni Award (DEAA) from the University of Colorado. In 2011, Nathan was invited to deliver the commencement speech at the University of Colorado Boulder for the Leeds School of Business, and in 2012, he was inducted into the prestigious Boulder County Business Hall of Fame.
In 2016, Nathan authored a book, along with Spectra colleagues Bob Cone and John Kranz, titled, “Society’s Genome: Genetic Diversity’s Role in Data Preservation.” In the book, Nathan draws on the lessons of history and nature in addressing civilization’s unquenchable thirst for information and our need to find genetically diverse methods to preserve this collective knowledge base – society’s genome – for future generations.
Active in local business and civic communities, Nathan is a member and former chairman of the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Young President’s Organization (YPO). He is also a member of the YPO Gold and the Colorado Thirty Group, and serves on the University of Colorado’s Electrical Engineering Advisory Board.
Nathan is a licensed commercial instrument pilot with approximately 2,500 flight hours logged. He also collects and restores vintage pinball machines, some of which are on display in Spectra’s headquarters.
Nathan holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of Colorado Boulder.

Warren Schwartz
Chief Financial Officer
Warren Schwartz is Spectra Logic’s chief financial officer. As CFO, Warren is responsible for all aspects of managing Spectra’s financial performance as well as helping to guide the company’s strategic operational initiatives as a trusted business leader.
Warren brings with him a deep knowledge of the technology, software and telecom industries, with an extensive background in directing a wide range of financial, strategic and operational processes to achieve actionable results.
Prior to Spectra, Warren worked in the telecom industry for T-Mobile and Layer3 TV. Before joining the telecom industry, Warren attained years of experience working with high technology companies, including Front Porch Digital, LeftHand Networks/HPE and SUN/STK.
Warren holds an MBA in Information Systems and an MS in Finance from the University of Colorado Denver. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from San Jose State University.

Mitch Seigle
Chief Marketing Officer
Mitch Seigle is the chief marketing officer of Spectra Logic. He joined the company in July 2023.
He brings more than 30 years of storage industry marketing experience to Spectra, garnered at leading hardware and software companies where he held leadership roles in product marketing and management, corporate communications, corporate marketing and investor relations.
Before joining Spectra, Mitch led a successful consultancy providing strategic marketing and communications services to a broad range of startups within the data storage industry.
He has previously held executive positions including vice president of marketing and product management for Syncsort, a provider of big data integration tools and storage backup and recovery software; vice president of corporate marketing at LSI, a maker of storage silicon, systems and software; and senior director of corporate marketing at Engenio, a leading OEM provider of storage arrays and software.
Earlier in his career, he held marketing and technical roles with EMC and Unisys.
He brings more than 30 years of storage industry marketing experience to Spectra, garnered at leading hardware and software companies where he held leadership roles in product marketing and management, corporate communications, corporate marketing and investor relations.

David Feller
Chief Technology Officer
David Feller brings more than 25 years of engineering and marketing leadership experience to Spectra. As vice president of product management and solutions engineering, he merges the voice of the customer with market trends and technologies to create and drive a successful product portfolio for Spectra. David also oversees Spectra’s external partnership development, client certification and client test programs.
Prior to Spectra, David was vice president of marketing for DVDO/Silicon Image, where he pioneered 4K and beyond HDMI technology systems.
Previous to that, he served as vice president of marketing for Cornice, a hard drive manufacturer that pioneered storage for early portable music players. He also held the position of chief marketing officer for BOCS, an in-home video distribution company, and was product line director at Harris Semiconductor where his group invented and brought to market the world’s first WiFi solution.
David holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in electrical engineering from Texas A&M University.

Steve Town
Senior Vice President of Sales
Steve Town’s expertise in Information Technology spans more than 25 years. Today, Steve is the head of Spectra’s global sales leadership team that helps its customers achieve their information technology modernization ambitions, which include the incorporation of public cloud into data management strategies.
Steve rejoined Spectra Logic in 2020 as a sales leader tasked with expanding the reach of Spectra’s emerging solutions to help customers leverage their data in a hybrid cloud world. In addition to driving sales process enhancements, he contributes to strategies in market positioning and product development. Between his first stretch at Spectra Logic in 1996 and his return in 2020, Steve worked at some of the leading IT organizations in the world. Most recently he was in sales leadership at Dell EMC where he transformed an enterprise sales organization from its traditional focus on hardware to one that is software-centric to meet the evolving needs of customers in an increasingly hybrid cloud world.
Steve began his IT career working at one of Spectra Logic’s San Diego-based channel partners shortly after graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Science from the University of California, San Diego.

Roberto Bigliani
Senior Vice President of Worldwide Service Operations
Roberto Bigliani joined Spectra Logic in 2011 and currently serves as the company’s senior vice president of worldwide service operations. His primary objectives are executing new services strategies and creating new support offerings to keep pace with changing customer needs.
Upon assuming this position, Roberto restructured the global service operations department to enhance Spectra’s field service and support delivery, staff training, technical support and escalation, quality engineering,and part logistics processes. Previously, Roberto spent more than 12 years in service and support management roles with Dot Hill, LeftHand Networks/HP, Webroot and Rogue Wave Software.
He has published several research articles based on two years of research activities conducted at North Carolina State University. Roberto holds both a master’s of science and a Bachelor’s of Science degree in electrical engineering from Polytechnic of Turin in Italy.

Jon Benson
Vice President of Emerging Technologies and Engineering
Jon Benson joined Spectra Logic in 2011 to lead the research and development of new technologies for Spectra’s portfolio of data storage solutions. As vice president of emerging technologies and engineering, he is responsible for developing new products that address customers’ future data center requirements. Jon also oversees software development and quality for all Spectra products.
Prior, he was employed at StorageTek (STK)/Sun Microsystems for more than 24 years and was serving as vice president and general manager of its tape business when the company was purchased by Sun in 2005.
During his tenure at StorageTek, Jon directed the product and business development of numerous tape library, drive and software platforms throughout the 1990s and into 2000-2005, including the PowderHorn, SL8500 and SL3000 tape libraries, VSM virtual tape and 9840/9940/T10000 tape drives. After the acquisition of STK by SUN, he served as senior vice president of worldwide storage, tape and disk divisions.
Benson earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in electrical engineering from Colorado State University.

Mike Beaty
Vice President of Operations
Mike Beaty is the vice president of operations for Spectra Logic. He joined the company in 2016.
With an extensive background in engineering design, quality, and manufacturing, Mike leads our planning, purchasing, logistics, quality, and manufacturing teams.
Previously, he has worked in diverse industries such as hard disk drives, surgical instrumentation, military electronics, water disinfection, telecommunications, and forensic engineering.
Mike holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Colorado State University and a master's degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University. He is also a registered Professional Engineer.
With an extensive background in engineering design, quality, and manufacturing, Mike leads our planning, purchasing, logistics, quality, and manufacturing teams.

General Counsel & CHRO
Tracy Shiflet is the general counsel and chief human resources officer of Spectra Logic. She joined the company in 2024.
She is a corporate and transactional attorney with over 20 years of in-house experience providing legal guidance to public and private companies. She has led corporate legal departments, negotiated complex contracts, and handled governance, compliance, securities, and litigation matters. Tracy is a results-focused leader known for her ability to motivate teams, manage risk, and deliver practical solutions.
With expertise in mergers and acquisitions, data privacy, regulatory compliance, and intellectual property, Tracy is a trusted advisor who helps drive business success. She excels in managing high-stakes transactions, closing deals, and aligning legal strategies with corporate goals.
Tracy is a proactive, collaborative team member who consistently delivers impactful results. Her commitment to ethical standards and clear, concise communication make her a respected leader in the legal field.

Ben Bolles
Senior Director of Product Management
As the senior director of product management at Spectra, Ben brings a wealth of experience and a strong track record of success in steering product strategy and innovation.
He is responsible for all facets of product management, roadmap development, and strategic vision, including software, hardware, and strategic partnerships, enabling Spectra to stay at the forefront of technology innovation and market evolution.
Ben is a graduate of Purdue University and resides in Boulder, Colorado.

Jennifer Hopkins
Jennifer is a Managing Partner at Crescendo Capital Partners LLC, a private investment company. Crescendo invests in mature businesses that offer an opportunity to accelerate growth and enhance profitability. She is currently CEO of one of Crescendo’s portfolio companies, American Medical. American Medical is one of the largest internet providers of prescription long term oxygen therapy equipment.
Prior to forming Crescendo, Jennifer was employed at Hewlett Packard and Agilent Technologies. Over her 20-year career, she led functional teams in R&D, Marketing and Manufacturing, and Executive General Management roles for hardware, software and services organizations. Most recently she was Vice President of the Global Solutions Business Unit, a $900M organization with 4 divisions and over 1500 employees in 35 countries. From a product perspective, she has led teams in categories ranging from Computers (workstations & servers), to semiconductors to electronic test equipment.
She is currently on the boards of Spectra Logic Corporation and Sartori Cheese, a third generation family retail and industrial provider of cheese. She is also a member of the Colorado Forum, a non-partisan business organization working to further governmental policy issues that benefit Coloradoans.
She is active in several nonprofit organizations including Craig Hospital Foundation, the NDSU Development Foundation, and the American Lung Association.

Sherri Leopard
As founder and CEO of a boutique consultancy, Sherri has spent more than thirty years as a strategic partner to CEOs, senior marketing leaders, and sales leaders primarily in the technology and telecommunications sectors. Her firm’s blue chip client list included IBM, SAP, Siemens, Motorola, Level 3, and Intrado. In 2006, after 22 successful years, Sherri sold her company to WPP and the firm became part of Ogilvy & Mather.
Upon honorably concluding her earn-out in February of 2014, Sherri retired. That short-lived experiment lasted 10 weeks, the highlights of which include breaking her wrist while skiing in the back bowls of Vail, a short trek in Nepal, and being recognized as BMA Colorado’s B2B Marketer of the Year.

Mike Sausa
Mike Sausa is the former Senior Vice President of Organizational Development at Spectra Logic. He served in this role from 2015 until his retirement in 2024.
In his former role, Mike helped Spectra’s global employees connect and contribute to the organization by advancing Spectra’s software-defined, automated and intelligent CRM and Training platforms to increase business effectiveness.
Mike has more than 30 years of leadership proficiency. Over his three decades of experience with Spectra Logic, since its inception, he served in a variety of roles, including manager of finance and operations, European sales (based in the UK), global vice president of sales operations, and president and chief operating officer.
Mike holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder.
In his former role, Mike helped Spectra’s global employees connect and contribute to the organization by advancing Spectra’s software-defined, automated and intelligent CRM and Training platforms to increase business effectiveness.
Mike has more than 30 years of leadership proficiency. Over his three decades of experience with Spectra Logic, since its inception, he served in a variety of roles, including manager of finance and operations, European sales (based in the UK), global vice president of sales operations, and president and chief operating officer.
Mike holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder.
Barry Rudolph
Long-time IBM executive, Barry Rudolph has held numerous senior level positions within IBM including Vice President, Strategy and Stack Integration for IBM Storage; Vice President for IBM’s WW Disk, SAN & NAS Storage Systems; and Vice President of Tape Storage, with responsibility for IBM’s WW Tape business.
He also has served on multiple boards including Dot Hill Systems, Spectra Logic and FalconStor.
In July 2014, he was named CEO of VelociData, Inc., a firm that specializes in high-performance data transformation and process offload in large corporations.

Jim Tholen
Jim Tholen brings more than 20 years of financial and strategic management experience to BroadSoft. As CFO, Jim oversees a number of BroadSoft’s strategic and financial planning initiatives, including areas in accounting, tax, legal, human resources, investor relations, acquisitions, real estate and risk management operations. Jim has been instrumental in ensuring BroadSoft’s continued growth and long-term viability. In 2010, he guided BroadSoft into launching a successful IPO.
Prior to joining BroadSoft, Jim served as CFO and chief operating officer (COO) at NetSec, Inc., a managed security services company acquired by MCI (now Verizon Business). He has also served as chief strategy officer and CFO for CareerBuilder.com and was a founding member of CareerBuilder’s board of directors.
In 2012, Jim was named as CFO of the Year by the Tech Council of Maryland, and in 2009, he was selected as CFO of the Year by the Northern Virginia Tech Council. Jim is currently a member of the Board of Directors for Millennial Media (NYSE-MM) and Spectra Logic.
