If you’re looking for a data storage growth path, the T120 is your answer. When you invest in the T120, you obtain exceptional, economical tape storage in a compact footprint built on the same superior technology platform as Spectra’s larger, more powerful libraries.
Flexible Growth & Performance that Meets Changing Needs
Adding capacity to your T120 is simple with Capacity on Demand (CoD). Start with as few as 30 slots, and as your business expands add more capacity in increments of 5 tape slots, up to 120 slots. Spectra makes it easy by shipping every library fully populated, allowing you to add slots with a simple software key, significantly reducing the time needed to upgrade your library.
The Spectra T120 utilizes a custom, 8-tape TeraPack® media container for input/output operations. The TeraPack container provides a more efficient way to import tape media into the library and offers a clean, secure and stackable case for staging and storing media outside of the library. Using TeraPack containers reduces handling time by 87.5%.
Adding tape drives and increasing performance is simple with easy-to-configure slide-in drives. This flexible scalability in capacity and performance protects your investment and ensures that your Spectra tape library is upgradable with the latest in technological advances
You also can seamlessly upgrade to a larger Spectra library as your needs grow. Spectra’s TranScale feature allows you to expand to a larger library with the same interface and features—but with more capacity and performance.
Component interchange is at the core of TranScaling. Simply move components to the larger frame. When growth requires more throughput or capacity than your library can handle, TranScaling allows you to use your existing components in your new library. That simplicity, inherent in the design of all larger Spectra libraries, lets Spectra guarantee a complete upgrade in hours.
Parts that can be TranScaled include:
- Power Supplies
- Library Control Module
- Interface Controller
- Existing Media
TranScale also enables you to keep your existing infrastructure and backup/archive applications – just install a new library and go. No need to reconfigure or modify existing setup, which can be expensive and time consuming.
Augment Storage Requirements with Partitioning
Shared Library Services lets data centers implement simple, integrated partitioning so that a single library appears to users as multiple libraries. Unlike other partitioning solutions that involve complicated and expensive external partitioning servers, network connections, and proprietary client software, you can easily partition your library using its BlueScale interface.
LTO Tape Technology Grows with You
The T120 leverages LTO (Linear Tape Open), the only open format tape technology available. You can rest easy knowing that each generation of LTO is backward compatible—with a vigorous roadmap extending to LTO-10 and beyond, so you have peace of mind that your tape technology format is here to stay.
Today’s LTO-8 provides up to 30TB of compressed* capacity on each data cartridge (12TB native). With data transfer rates up to 750MB/s compressed* (360 MB/sec native), you’ll notice that your jobs will be completed in short order.
