Spectra Logic Showcases Suite of Digital Asset Management Solutions at NAB 2008

Media Health Tracking Software and TranScale Libraries on display for Broadcasters for First Time   LAS VEGAS—NAB2008—April 14, 2008– Spectra Logic, the data storage innovator, is showcasing its complete suite of tape and disk-based data storage products this week at NAB 2008. Spectra Logic’s disk- based archive cache products coupled with Media Asset Management software provide quick and reliable access for near term on-air content. Spectra data tape libraries provide low-cost long-term digital archiving to ensure easy management and availability of content in the future.    The Spectra TranScale TSerieslibraries and nTier disk appliances are available in Spectra Logic’s booth SU 14010 and throughout the show floor in partner booths, such as Masstech, Front Porch Digital, SGI, SGL, XenData and Dayang.   For the first time, broadcasters can view a live demo of Spectra’s new Media Lifecycle Management (MLM) software. MLM monitors and tracks information about individual data storage tapes, and uses it to report the health and utilization of each data tape, proactively identifying cartridges that pose a threat. This not only prevents potential data loss, but maximizes data tape utilization. MLM is a critical feature for broadcasters storing thousands of hours of video on hundreds or thousands of tapes.   “As broadcasters move into digital workflow and store content on data tapes for long-term archiving, it becomes crucial that they proactively monitor, manage and protect assets on these data tapes,” said Joe French, EVP of sales at Masstech. “The introduction of MLM, a standard feature of Spectra Logic’s tape libraries, is a giant leap to help broadcasters better manage and protect long-term archive content.”   NAB also marks the first public display ofTranScale productsto media and entertainment users. Spectra’s TranScale TSerieslibraries –the T200, T380, T680 and T950—contain interchangeable components, which can be moved to the next-largest library with a simple frame change, preserving customer investments in near-line and long term archive platforms. TranScale growth is a superior alternative to and offers better investment protection than comparable stackable libraries.   About Spectra Logic Corporation Spectra Logic designs and manufactures a complete line of disk and data tape storage products that integrate all major Media Asset Management (MAM), Digital Asset Management (DAM) and traditional data protection solutions. Spectra Logic Joins the Green Grid

BOULDER, Colo. – March 12, 2008 – Spectra Logic, the data storage innovator, today announced its membership in The Green Grid. The Green Grid is a global consortium dedicated to advancing energy efficiency in data centers and business computing ecosystems. Spectra Logic’s membership will extend the company’s knowledge and resource bank on end user needs for energy efficiency in storage.   Spectra Logic designs its intelligent Secondary Storage disk appliances and tape libraries with the EnergyAudit™ power usage and monitoring feature included standard. EnergyAudit taps directly into the power supply to track how much power is in use real time, and can report the data in watts per cubic foot, square foot or terabyte.  Spectra Logic designs power efficiency savings into all secondary storage platforms. For example, the Spectra T950 annual energy costs for power and cooling are more than 50 percent less than other enterprise-class tape libraries.   End users continue to note in our research that the finite power allocation planned for future storage growth is often consumed months, if not years, ahead of expectations and that close to 25 percent of all new data centers are being created to address this growth in power usage,” said Robert Stevenson, managing director of storage research for TheInfoPro (www.theinfopro.net). “Spectra Logic’s EnergyAudit feature offers a step towards energy measurement, allowing for better management of power usage within existing data centers.”   The Green Grid seeks to provide industry-wide recommendations on best practices, metrics and technologies that will improve overall data center and business computing energy efficiencies. By joining The Green Grid, Spectra Logic is helping influence both developers and end users of data center technology.   “With energy costs rising, customers demand cost-effective and energy-efficient storage products,” said Nathan Thompson, Spectra Logic’s founder and CEO. “Spectra Logic designs solutions that use less power and offers tools to calculate cost-savings, and are now backing our commitment by joining the industry’s knowledge leader so we can continue to offer the most timely tools that customers wish to deploy.”
