University of Notre Dame (ND)

The University of Notre Dame’s Office of Information Technology serves a wide range of clients on campus and had several unique requirements to fulfill in finding an enterprise solution that would work for all of them. The Center for Research Computing required a solution to protect the research data on hundreds of servers. Notre Dame Studios wanted more effective management of studio video content, audio podcasts and recordings of live events and classroom lectures. And the University Libraries needed large-scale storage for their digitized material and for their institutional repository containing research data and scholarly output. University of Georgia (UGA)

The University of Georgia ranks among the best research libraries in the U.S., housing over 5.2 million volumes and one of the nation’s largest map collections. Its libraries are composed of nearly 80 years’ worth of digital content in varying formats – including radio, audio, video, books and individual documents. University of South Dakota (USD)

University of South Dakota (USD) operates two supercomputer systems, the Lawrence Supercomputer and the Legacy Supercomputer. Their mission is to leverage this cyberinfrastructure to accelerate computational and data-driven research and scholarship – reducing time to discovery, growing the number of affiliated research practitioners and increasing USD’s competitiveness for research funding. Access is free to all non-commercial entities in South Dakota.

USD’s supercomputing user base grew to include virtually all Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics disciplines, with emerging cases in the Humanities. Additionally, individual laboratories managed their own data storage capabilities locally, posing a significant obstacle to cross-campus data accessibility and collaboration. University of Leeds School of Earth & Environment

The research division of the University of Leeds is ranked first in the UK for the quantity of its world-leading research and fifth out of 44 departments in the UK for overall research quality in earth systems and environmental sciences. Its School of Earth & Environment, one of the largest and most accomplished in the UK, uses a Spectra® T950 Tape Library and Spectra NAS Solution to store its research data, including complex scientific numerical models and visualization for the Centre of Excellence for Modelling the Atmosphere and Climate (CEMAC). MSI addresses the high-performance computing needs of research groups at the University of Minnesota. They facilitate University and industry collaboration in a number of fields, from advanced imaging, to next-generation sequencing data analysis, to the design of cutting-edge medical devices. KAUST, an international graduate research university located in Saudi Arabia, is home to the fastest and most powerful supercomputer in the Middle East. With one of the fastest growing research and citation records in the world, the University backs up over 20PB of scientific data.
