Joint Solution Cuts Storage Costs and Enables Scientists to Focus on Science Instead of Data Management

Bio-IT World 2019, BOSTON – April 16, 2019 — Spectra Logic and Arcitecta will be premiering the joint BlackPearl® Converged Storage System and Mediaflux® Genomic Data Management Solution in Booth #626 on April 16-18, and presenting “Metadata – The DNA of Your Life Sciences Data,” in the Solutions Theatre, on Thursday, April 18, from 1:25 to 1:45 p.m.

Spectra Logic’s BlackPearl Converged Storage System solves the problem of costly and complex approaches to digital preservation by combining multiple standard interfaces and storage targets into a simple and affordable solution designed for diverse workflows. BlackPearl unlocks multiple storage targets including online disk, nearline disk, deep storage tape, and even public cloud.

Mediaflux manages genomics data at top pharmaceutical and research organizations worldwide; and is being deployed with Spectra Logic BlackPearl at one of the world’s top universities. Mediaflux automates analysis workflows, tiers data, and automatically extracts and creates genomic metadata to search and act on billions of files — unifying life sciences data silos into a secure distributed collaboration environment across a single global namespace.

“Addressing the needs of the life sciences market with reliable data storage lies at the heart of the Spectra and Arcitecta relationship,” said Spectra CTO Matt Starr. “This joint solution enables customers to better manage their data and metadata by optimizing multiple storage targets, retrieving data efficiently and tracking content and resources.”

The joint solution with Spectra’s BlackPearl and Arcitecta’s Mediaflux is now shipping and available to the market.
