Spectra Launches Guaranteed Service and Support Price Protection Plan for the Life of its TSeries Tape Libraries

                                                              Spectra Service PriceLock Guarantees Future Service Pricing to Meet Long-term Budgeting Needs

BOULDER, Colo.—November 1, 2011—Spectra Logic, celebrating more than 30 years of data storage innovation, announced today its new Spectra Service pricing guarantee, which ensures that  list pricing of its TSeries tape library service contract rates will never increase above the rate of inflation. Spectra Service PriceLockTM eliminates future service pricing surprises and allows customers to plan budgets more effectively, as support and service pricing remains predictable for the entire life of the product.

“Customers typically keep tape libraries in production for seven to 15 years; however, many vendors increase support costs substantially after a product has been in use a mere three years,” said Kyle Knack, director, infrastructure systems for National Geographic. “It is unusual to see an archiving provider offer such a commitment to its customers, and further solidifies our decision to choose Spectra Logic as our storage provider more than four years ago.”

All new and currently installed United States based TSeries tape library customers, including the Spectra T50e and T120, the Spectra TSeries Mid-Range T200, T380 and T680, and the enterprise class T950 and TFinity,  are eligible for the new pricing commitment from Spectra Logic starting today. The company is currently developing similar plans for other regions.

“In addition to the long duration of product use, as technologies advance users consistently make technology upgrades to take advantage of faster drives, higher capacity media and new network interface upgrades,” said Molly Rector, Spectra Logic’s chief marketing officer. “Spectra Logic’s new PriceLock support pricing guarantee ensures a customer’s storage investment can be accurately budgeted and safeguarded throughout the  life of the tape library.”

Every Spectra Service and Support package is covered under the program, including Next Business Day, Next Business Day Onsite, Same Business Day Onsite and Four-Hour Onsite packages.  Spectra Logic is locking the MSRP price today at its current rates, which have been fixed since 2008, as part of the new price protection program.
