Proceeds to Provide Playground Equipment and Further Educational Programs for Community Children
BOULDER, Colo.—February 17, 2011—Spectra Logic, celebrating more than 30 years of data storage innovation, announced today that it is the Education Sponsor for the second annual Kohl Elementary 5K Run/Fun Walk. Attendance is projected to double from 250 participants in 2010 to 500 participants this year. Last year’s first annual 5K helped raise more than $2,700, and the 2011 goal is $5,000. 100 percent of event proceeds will go to Broomfield’s Kohl Elementary School to purchase new playground equipment and to extend educational programs for its students.
The 2011 Kohl Elementary 5K Run/Fun Walk will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2011 and will begin at 8:00 a.m. at the course starting point located at 10th Avenue and Jade Street in Broomfield. As this year’s sole Education Sponsor, Spectra Logic is donating $1,000 to Kohl Elementary, hosting a race day table, providing an end-of-race raffle item and participating in co-marketing and advertising activities. Other sponsors include Larabar, Abo’s Pizza, Road Runner Sports and Noodles & Company.
“Our goal is to raise money for education by becoming the premiere 5K race in Broomfield, and to set the pace for a healthy and active lifestyle in our communities,” said Nancy Barjenbruch, race coordinator for Kohl Elementary School. “Last year’s race included elite athletes, recreational runners and other Boulder County community members. We are thrilled with the increased participation in 2011 and are grateful for the support of sponsors like Spectra Logic.”
Interested participants may register for the race here at an early bird rate of $20 per person before March 1, $25 before April 28, or $35 on race day. Children ages 12 and under may register for the 5K Run/Fun Walk for $15, or opt for the half-mile Fun Run free of charge.
