Spectra Hosts Employee Holiday Drive for Energy Outreach Colorado
BOULDER, Colo.—December 20, 2007—More than 105,000 Colorado-based households require financial support to cover heating costs during the coldest months of the year. In response, Spectra Logic is supporting Energy Outreach Colorado, an independent, non-profit charity dedicated to providing home energy assistance to local families in need.
As part of a 2007 employee holiday drive, Spectra associates are joining to raise donations for Energy Outreach Colorado at the company’s Boulder headquarters. Spectra Logic’s staff has already contributed several hundred dollars to the cause, and collections will continue through the end of the year.
“More than 59 percent of the households we supported during the 2006-2007 heating season included children; 48 percent lived in households led by a disabled family member; and eight percent lived in households led by seniors,” said Peggy Hofstra, director of communications for Energy Outreach Colorado. “We depend on corporate contributors like Spectra Logic to meet our annual goals to support these households.”
How your gift can help needy families stay warm this holiday season
·         A $5,000 contribution will provide heat and light to the homes of 15 families for two months.
·         A $2,500 contribution will weatherize the home of a low-income family so they can live comfortably and afford their energy bills.
·         A $1,040 contribution will pay the entire gas and electric bill for an average Colorado family during the six coldest months.
·         A $500 contribution will teach dozens of school children how to save energy and help their family reduce energy bills.
·         A $175 contribution will provide one Colorado family with a warm, healthy and secure home for the coldest month this winter.
“Energy Outreach Colorado’s programs make a significant, direct impact on our community’s families,” said Leigh Grace, public relations manager for Spectra Logic. “Since the organization’s administrative costs are only six percent, we know that 94 cents of each dollar we donate will be delivered straight to local homes and families in need.”
