Spectra Logic Supports Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence
BOULDER, Colo., December 14, 2006? In 2005, the Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence (SPAN) sheltered 222 women and 75 children, all victims of domestic violence. SPAN, formerly known as Boulder County Safehouse, is a human rights organization committed to ending violence against women, youth and children through support, advocacy, education and community organizing.
Spectra Logic employees voted on various local charity organizations, and elected to support SPAN during its Holiday 2006 season annual drive. For the fourth consecutive year, Spectra Logic employees will offer donations based on SPAN?s wish list needs.
In 2005, SPAN:
- Responded to 10,601 crisis line calls through its 24-hour crisis line
- Provided outreach counseling to 1,368 women, children and men
- Had 325 volunteers donate 40,898.5 hours of their time and expertise
- SPAN staff and Speaker’s Bureau made 675 community education presentations to schools, agencies, businesses and organizations.
