BOULDER, Colo., August 7, 2006— Mobility Electronics, Inc. recently purchased a Spectra® T120 with BlueScale™ Encryption to store sensitive employee data, e-mail and accounting information , which demands an extra layer of security. Mobility selected the Spectra Logic solution because it was reliable, scalable, easy-to-maintain and had the ability to effortlessly encrypt data with AES-256 bit encryption.
“The Spectra T120 met our existing backup and future encryption needs,” said Frank Tanner, systems engineer of Mobility Electronics. “The integrated encryption capabilities are simple to use and instantly integrate with my backup environment. Mobility would definitely recommend Spectra Logic data backup and encryption products to our peers.”
As Mobility Electronics’ data grew, the company decided to replace an older DLT library with updated technology. Mobility reviewed products from several major vendors, and chose the Spectra T120 BlueScale Encryption tape library with LTO-3 drives. Spectra Logic offered the right price and the industry’s only encryption embedded in the tape library, letting Mobility store, encrypt and compress data—all in a single step.
Custom Storage Inc. is Spectra Logic’s value-added reseller who recommended the T120 with BlueScale Encryption solution. “Our team worked closely with Mobility Electronics to configure a tape backup and data protection solution that simplifies their backup process, provides built-in data encryption and meets the growing needs of their business,” said Chris Anderson of Custom Storage.
Mobility backs up and replicates its corporate data to the T120, which resides in the company’s Scottsdale, Ariz.-based data center. Data from three secondary sites is replicated back to the company’s headquarters.
